NEWS FROM CINEMA PROJECT

Welcome back to yet another season with Cinema Project! Nomads no longer, we continue to settle into our new black-box cinema in downtown Portland.  Many thanks to all who helped get the space up and running—it was truly a collaborative effort. If you didn’t get a chance to check out our new space last fall during our five-day symposium, Expanded Frames, please join us this spring for a season full of rich and exciting work.

We are excited to introduce Heather Lane and Mia Ferm, a couple of fresh new minds committed to the future of our organization, so help us in welcoming them as new collective members of Cinema Project.

As part of a continued devotion to screen culturally and nationally diverse work, we will be inviting a mix of international artists and curators to participate in our Beyond Borders series over the next three seasons. This spring will include UK filmmaker Ben Rivers and New Delhi based filmmaker Amar Kanwar. Once again we are proud to be collaborating with the Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival, bringing veteran filmmaker Peggy Ahwesh to Portland for an evening of her provocative films and videos, as well as a much anticipated memorial program celebrating the life and work of the recently departed Bruce Conner. Christopher May, from the Colorado-based TIE, will also be traveling here to guest curate two programs of international experimental film. With the many visiting artists and a wide range of work, this season of premiere screenings promises to be particularly exceptional.

Our sincere gratitude goes out to the many individuals and businesses for continued support in making all of this possible. In addition we are exceptionally grateful to the Andy Warhol Foundation for their ongoing support.

We look forward to seeing you at the cinema.
